We consider it our good forturne to have become friends with members of the Cortes family. We first saw them play around l'église during the Pelerinage de Sainte Sara in May 2001. Even in the chaos and amid many other musicians, they stood out. We purchased their first CD.

2003, again the Pelerinage, again at l'église, this time at 1:30 in the morning. Playing by themselves and for themselves we were drawn to their fabulous music. We recognized Mucho as being in Los Cortes. We met them and talked most of the night away. We spent a couple more evenings listening to their music and meeting more family members. We ended that year with an all-night soiree at our house with some of the best puro music we could ever hope to hear. We happily took their second CD home.

In 2004, we met up several times including another wonderful soiree at our house. We met more of the family. So much talent!

This year, 2005, we again had a wonderful time with our friends. As the photos show, a good time was had by all. This year they added more members to their group, including Jose Lito who is well known in his own right. They also have a new CD with wonderful music.

The hallmarks of Gipsy Cortes are passionate vocals with fine harmonies, exceptional palmas and percussion, and strong guitars. They blend traditional Gypsy music with vibrant modern style. We give them the Gypsy Soul, 3 thumbs up! See you next year, Gipsy Cortes!
